If Erte is control, precision, and Nouveau, then de Lempicka is passion, vibrance, intensity, and Deco. In brief, Russian born, high-society social climber, one of the most iconic Deco painters, famed for her many lovers (male and female) and her conical, shaded style. Her paintings most clearly represented the 'new woman' of the twenties - one with more freedom, sexuality, elegance, and joie de vivre. I adore her colour palettes - something to look into for our own. If we were to pick a singular artist for a context, de Lempicka would be very appropriate for Sabatini White's sexuality and glamour.
